Odin is now Silk. Some videos may still show or mention Odin while we update them — the information in them still applies.

Activation & License

The first time you open Silk, it asks you to activate it with the email address you bought it with. Activation links that email to the computer you’re using.

Activating Silk

  1. Open Silk. The activation window appears before anything else.
  2. Enter the email address you used to buy Silk: exactly the one on your receipt.
  3. Silk emails you a sign-in link from hello@heysilkai.com. Open it on any device.
  4. Click the link. Back on your computer, Silk notices within a few seconds and activates itself; you don’t need to do anything else.

The link works once and expires after 15 minutes. If it has expired, click activate in Silk again to get a fresh one.

Using Silk on another computer

Your plan covers a set number of computers (“seats”). To move Silk to a new computer:

  1. On the computer you’re leaving, open Silk’s panel and choose License → Deactivate this PC. This frees its seat.
  2. On the new computer, install Silk and activate it with the same email.

If the old computer is lost or broken and you can’t deactivate it, contact support and we’ll free the seat for you.

Common problems

”All my seats are in use”

Every computer your plan allows is already activated. Deactivate one you no longer use (see above), then activate again.

”No active license” for my email

  • Check the email address. It has to be the exact address you bought with. A different address, even another of your own, won’t find the purchase. Your purchase receipt shows which one it was.
  • Just bought? Wait a few minutes and try again: purchases can take a moment to arrive.
  • Still not working? Contact support and include your receipt.

The sign-in email never arrives

  1. Wait two or three minutes, then check your spam, junk and promotions folders.
  2. Add hello@heysilkai.com to your contacts, then request a new link from Silk.
  3. Make sure you typed the purchase email correctly in Silk.

Some email providers, Yahoo and AOL in particular (including addresses such as ymail.com, att.net, sbcglobal.net, rogers.com and shaw.ca), sometimes block these emails before they ever reach your inbox, so they won’t be in spam either. If you use one of these providers and the email doesn’t come, contact support: we can activate your computer without the email.

I upgraded, but don’t see the new features

In Silk’s panel, open License and click Refresh license. Silk then picks up your upgrade straight away instead of on its next routine check.

Do I need to be online?

Activation needs an internet connection. After that, Silk confirms your license in the background every couple of weeks; a short spell offline doesn’t interrupt it. (Silk’s AI features always need the internet, since they run through Claude, ChatGPT or OpenRouter.)

Still stuck?

First, Ask Silk: it answers instantly from these docs. If that doesn’t solve it, talk to a human and include the email you bought with and, if you have it, your receipt. Never send us your OpenRouter API key: we’ll never ask for it.
